The Senior Associate supports the Director of Client Solutions to shape, execute, and deliver across a broad variety of client engagements spanning all industries, from financial services to professional services to manufacturing to consumer packaged goods.   The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of post-college work experience, works well in teams, and demonstrates proficiency as an analyst, writer, and researcher.  No specific industry experience is necessary; generalists are welcome to apply.

The Senior Associate collaborates intensely with multiple ORC teams, and also plays an active role in developing client relationships.  Successful candidates can expect to receive training across a broad variety of career-enhancing skills, such as but not limited to research methods, analytics, client presentation, and relationship management.

A rough breakdown of the Associate’s work life looks like this:

  • Leverage multiple research methods in support of client engagements: learn, apply, leverage, and execute a broad range of methods, including qual, quant, secondary, and primary.
  • Create client-facing deliverables across a broad range of formats, from PPT to HTML and other, demonstrating the ability to weave meaningful narrative from data, cull insight, and propose implications.
  • Develop and demonstrate increasing expertise in selected knowledge areas, e.g., particular industries, business trends, and/or analytical methods.
  • Support business development: Work with research director to develop client relationships and contribute to the firm’s revenue through in-person pitch meetings, proposal development, and other client interface.

  • BA/BS from an accredited university. Generalists and candidates from the social sciences, and humanities are encouraged to apply – a business or marketing degree is welcome, but not required.
  • 1-2 years post-college work experience in a professional services firm.
  • Excellent professional references, upon request.
  • Basic proficiency in Word, PPT, and Excel.
  • Excellent collaboration skills: works well with many different kinds of people and teams.
  • Also works well independently with minimal supervision.

In addition to the above requirements, preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Are interested in deriving meaning from data:  how to collect data, how to look at it, how to derive meaning from it, and often, what that means for a client’s business.
  • Write, present, and analyze well, both on the page and in person.
  • Demonstrate instinctive curiosity about new fields of inquiry; may naturally see or seek linkages between disparate pieces of data, and find ways to connect into narrative.
  • Are flexible and adaptable: work well in an environment that can sometimes be fluid. Not someone looking to have the same day at work every day (although that can happen now and then).
  • Are interested in building relationships with new people, both colleagues and clients.
  • Have familiarity with SPSS, STATA, Tableau, R, Python is a plus but not required.
  • Have familiarity with graphic design and other forms of story telling is also a plus, but not required.
